Captains Watch ("the App") is developed and operated by Capitao Outdoors. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our Wear OS application.
Information We Collect
Location Information
The App uses your device's GPS to detect nearby water bodies and provide location-aware fishing insights. Your precise GPS coordinates are used on-device to identify your general fishing area. We may transmit your approximate location (city, state, and water body name — not precise GPS coordinates) to our servers to provide location-specific features and improve our water body database.
Weather and Conditions Data
To provide bite scores and fishing condition analysis, the App sends your approximate GPS coordinates to third-party weather and environmental data services. These requests are made to provide real-time conditions and are not stored by us.
Catch and Session Data
Fishing catches and session information you log in the App are currently stored locally on your device. In the future, we may offer optional cloud sync of this data to allow access across devices. We will notify you before enabling any such sync.
Device Information
We may collect basic device information such as device type and operating system version for the purpose of app performance and compatibility.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not require account registration or collect personal identifying information at this time.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not collect precise GPS coordinates on our servers.
Third-Party Services
The App uses third-party services to provide weather, barometric pressure, and environmental data. These services receive your approximate location to fulfill requests. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services.
Data Storage and Security
Locally stored data (catches, sessions, settings) remains on your device and is not transmitted without your knowledge. We implement reasonable security measures to protect any data we handle.
Children's Privacy
Captains Watch is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App's features evolve. We will indicate the date of the most recent update at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
